Feature: Georgie Winchester - Crying In Private
Georgie Winchester showcases her talent for hook-heavy songwriting in a punk-inspired call to action on her latest latest single 'Crying In Private'.
Recorded in the iconic bush studio at Dashville NSW backed by Dashville Community Records and a team of some of Australia’s best industry professionals, namely Jack Nigro (Dune Rats, Skeggs, DMA’s) and Christopher Dale (Melody Pool).
Driving guitars, explosive drums, and a gritty chorus set the tone for the track. Built around the refrain “I don’t wanna be crying in private, let me cry in public,” it’s a bold, rebellion-fuelled rallying cry.
This track is one arm off her upcoming sophomore album Dust & Salt, navigating her experiences of power imbalances within the music industry.
At its core, the ‘Crying In Private’ draws from Winchester’s lived experience as a young female musician confronting unequal power dynamics within the music
industry.
Choosing to be heard rather than hidden, she reframes the experience on her own terms, in her own way, grounded in strength not sympathy.
