Cold Ghost - LIP READING

LIP READING is Cold Ghost's latest single and explores the almost unconscious skill that is lip reading...and the moments in life where it becomes an acutely conscious thing.

Cold Ghost sings about personal experience...of talking to people in loud places, losing the conversation and searching lips, face and body to “find it again”

Fletch lost his hearing in his right ear to the mumps when only about 2yrs old. “That was 1980, and the mumps vaccine was introduced to Australia in 1981. I Just missed out!!

LIP READING follows on from the single HEADPHONES and features Fletch’s rolling finger picking style on an old nylon stringed guitar tuned all the way down to C. “I like that this tuning covers all the low frequencies in the mix. There is no need for a bass guitar!!”

Fletch creates a wash of vocal harmonies with a nod to Brain Wilson who passed away whilst recording this track. “I love what Brian did with vocal harmonies and love even more trying to execute 60’s psych pop vocals in the studio myself.”

The song also features a trio of concert flutes, something Fletch has frequently arranged and played. “There is something simple and refined about 3x flutes playing in harmony.”

Fletch (aka Cold Ghost) plays all the instruments on LIP READING and did all the production.
