Friends Of AIR:
The A&R Department
Established in 2007 The A&R Department is Australia’s longest running Label services platform and has been dedicated to supporting emerging Australian artists, ensuring that their creative and business practices align with their musical ambition. The A&R Department is constantly seeking out new ways to expand the reach of Australian independent music and to find the ears of audiences around the globe. The A&R Department looks to work with passionate and innovative individuals, both with the musicians and companies they work with. Within the ever-changing dynamics of the music industry, there’s one thing that has never changed, and that is the art of writing a special song.
Our current team have been working together for a few years now and collaborate well together on all releases. We are all passionate music people with the skills and knowledge to help artists develop on many fronts. For example: Publicity campaigns, A&R advice with songs and/or production contacts, Label Manager advice and coordination with your release strategy, Distribution, Publishing and Sync pitching and Accounting and Legal contacts.
Bandcamp’s mission is to create the best possible service for artists and labels to share and earn money from their music, and for fans to discover and enjoy it.
We believe that music is an indispensable part of culture, and for that culture to thrive, artists—no matter the size of their audience—must be compensated fairly and transparently for their work. Without this belief, our mission would be meaningless, and it’s why we’ve built our business around a model that puts the artist first.
When you buy something on Bandcamp, whether it’s digital music, vinyl, or a t-shirt, ticket or cassette, 80-85% of your money goes to the artist, and we payout daily. The remainder goes to payment processor fees and Bandcamp’s revenue share, which is 10-15% on digital items, and 10% on physical goods.
Since we only make money when artists make a lot more money, our interests remain aligned with those of the community we serve. It’s a straightforward approach, and one we’re happy to say works well. Fans have paid artists $427 million using Bandcamp, and $8.2 million in the past 30 days alone. We were founded in 2007, have been profitable since 2012, and we’re growing rapidly. Bandcamp is used by millions of fans around the world and is an indispensable tool for hundreds of thousands of artists and more than 3,000 labels. The New York Times called Bandcamp “one of the greatest underground-culture bazaars of our time,” Fast Company named us one of the most innovative companies in music, and the American Association of Independent Music honoured us with their Independent Champion award.

Know What’s Loved
Know What’s Loved has developed RAD/AR®, (Robotic Automated Discovery for Artists and Repertoire), a cloud-based platform and tech that enables music companies to orchestrate talent and repertoire search in new and powerful ways.
Using RAD/AR, teams create virtual Scouts. These autonomous software bots scan the Internet identifying the music talent and repertoire that meet users specific criteria.
RAD/AR Scouts are simple to create and manage. Teams can create swarms of Scouts and deploy them globally, or in target countries, regions or even cities and each Scout will produce a stream of prospective talent with New, Unsigned, Emerging and Hot artists highlighted dynamically.
RAD/AR Scouts are autonomous, and continuously update themselves to highlight new artists as they drop or as they demonstrate early indicators of future success.
RAD/AR has a host of integrated music discovery features and workflow integrations that enable teams to scale talent search in a fun, collaborative, and cost-effective way.
