Feature: Minhy – MBody
A soulful pop journey through love, overwhelm, and introspective “what ifs”, Mihny reveals her debut ep Mbody.
With a background in automotive and graphic design, each track was treated like an art piece, carefully crafted to embody her experiences.
“As a designer, I’m always drawn to how form and function could tell a
story. Songwriting became an extension of that – a way to express things I couldn’t put into words.” Minhy explained.
Produced by SB90 (Illy, KLP, Thandi Phoenix) and mastered by Kelly Hibbert (J Milla, Little Dragon, Hiatus Kaiyote), Mbody encompasses her emotional evolution and creative awakening, after deciding to pursue her secret dream of making music, later in life. “I took up journaling and joined a community of songwriters in ‘I Heart Songwriting Club’ and ended up writing 60 songs in 60 weeks.
“I was completely new to songwriting and fell in love with it. Mbody is my first body of work to celebrate this new creative expansion“.
One of the standout tracks from the EP is Hi-Res, a lofi-pop-R&B single that explores the complexities of navigating modern life. “There’s a lot of beauty and devastation happening in the world simultaneously, and due to our hyperconnected world, we see so many different sides. It’s a lot to feel and process”.
With Mbody, Minhy not only reveals her emotional depth but also affirms her creative versatility, seamlessly blending her background in design with her passion for music.
