Feature: Squid The Kid – KOZY TAPE
Squid The Kid’s debut EP KOZY TAPE is full of colour and personality, in true Squid The Kid style.
Known for his unique blend of R&B and hip-hop, KOZY TAPE, takes a bold step forward, showcasing a diverse array of musical styles and new vocal abilities, all under the masterful production of Xiao (Infuschia).
“I’ve always focused on one thing at a time, so the idea of working on five tracks at once was daunting,” he admits. “But with the support of my producer Xiao (Infuschia), who shares my passion and vision for music, we’ve created something that pushes boundaries and explores new territory.“
Featuring a mix of tracks that span various genres, including drill, UK garage, and his signature groovy and funky tunes KOZY TAPE embodies a mixtape vibe – intentionally diverse to challenge both the artist and his listeners.
“I honestly don’t know how people will react to the vast arrangement of songs, but I wanted to push the boundaries and give myself a challenge to attempt to write music in different pockets,” says Squid The Kid.
The EP focus track, ‘Stay’, is Squid’s version of a breakup song.
“‘Stay’ narrates a story of me trying to fight to keep this relationship alive, willing to make any changes necessary in order to keep the other half happy and wanting to commit to this as well”, he explains. “Whilst doing the most to keep things rolling, it appears that the other person has already checked out, leading to the realisation of the worth of my actions”.
