More Than A One Night Stand Sessions – AIR Label Panel

Warrnambool! AIR is so thrilled to be part of the Australian Music Industry joining you for triple j’s One Night Stand. Big thanks to Music Australia and triple j for making this possible!

You can find us at the Live and Local Forum on Thursday 12th September, and at the Music Village Expo on Saturday 14th September where attendees can chat with AIR to learn more about independent record labels and distributors.
On Friday 13th September, AIR will be hosting and curating an Independent Label panel featuring a few Australian Indie label heads in conversation about all things Indie.

Speakers include, Harry White (Future Classic), Blaise Sherrie (I Oh You/Mushroom Music), Robert Douglas-Sola from (Hopestreet Recordings), Sam Ford (Tone City Records), and moderated by Rebecca Young (Collective Artists).

Panel starts at 2 PM Friday 13th September in The Lighthouse Meeting Room.

MEET THE PANELLISTS!

REBECCA YOUNG – Rebecca Young is the Director of Collective Artists, an independent booking agency which launched in 2016 and is currently based in Naarm/Melbourne. Rebecca’s roster includes artists such as Aldous Harding, Body Type, dameeeela, Emma Donovan, Jen Cloher, Julia Jacklin, Maple Glider, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Sarah Blasko, Tia Gostelow and more. Rebecca previously worked as a senior agent at Sydney based Artist Voice, which then became part of global giant William Morris Endeavour, before launching Collective.

Rebecca also operates in the programming and event management space, having previously worked on festivals such as Fairgrounds, VIVID, Secret Garden and more. She is also a Director at One of One, a not-for-profit charity that supports and celebrates women and GNC folk working in the music industry. 

HARRY WHITE – Harry is the Managing Director at Future Classic – an independent record label and management company based in Los Angeles and Sydney. Across the last 10 years there he’s worked on label and management projects including G Flip, Flume, SOPHIE, Ta-ku, Danielle Ponder, Pussy Riot, Jonathan Zawada + more. He’s also run brand collabs & events with Dropbox, Qantas, Bonds, Intel, Apple, and curated and presented shows & events with MoMA PS1, Sydney Opera House, SXSW, Red Bull, Museum Of Contemporary Art Sydney. Prior to working at Future Classic, Harry worked at triple j, Chugg Entertainment, Oxford Art Factory and volunteered at FBi Radio.

BLAISE SHERRIE – Blaise Sherrie is a Senior Label Manager within Mushroom Group, overseeing multiple labels including I OH YOU, within the Mushroom Music ecosystem. Handling project operations for critically acclaimed, award-winning artists such as Tobiahs, DMA’S, Confidence Man, Violent Soho, Maina Doe, and multi-Platinum selling group Bliss n Eso. Blaise credits her deep passion for music and genuine care for the talented artists she works with as a driving factor in her success.

ROBERT DOUGLAS-SOLA – Bob is the founder and Director of HopeStreet Recordings and currently divides his time between label administration and studio responsibilities. With over 20 years in the music industry Bob has played a number of roles including bassist, producer, songwriter, arranger, manager, life coach, and recording and mix engineer across genres from Hip Hop to Soul to Jazz to Afrocuban Son and Rumba and Bollywood Psychedelia. His recent credits as a producer or engineer include Danielle Ponder & Karate Boogaloo’s Look Around (2020) and Izy’s Irene (2021) and Immy Owusu’s LO-LIFE (2023) 

SAM FORD – Sam Ford is an award winning producer and founder of Tone City Records.  Collecting over 20 years of experience in the music industry, Sam has collaborated on an eclectic mix of projects as a producer, mixer, musician, promoter and manager. His recording studio, Tone City Recording, boasts an impressive list of clientele and long term collaborators that include DICE, POND, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Birds Of Tokyo, Abbe May many more. Sam has also played a huge role in the development of artists in Perth, by assisting young and upcoming talent realise their full potential while simultaneously guiding the direction of more established acts. Between his work as the band manager for DICE and Building the A and R division of the Tone City Records label from the ground up, Sam provides a full spectrum of services in release strategy, marketing, branding and artwork development to create a sound network across industry services that include public relations, distribution, booking agencies and artist management.
