Feature: Ta’sia – ESTA

ESTA the latest release from Ta’sia is an album of tracks recorded in a single take, and others created through hours of fine tuning production, each one with a life of its own amongst the beats and samples, telling the stories of her own life, and experiences of the many feature vocalists.

Creating beats through sampled vintage vinyl sounds and live instruments arranged on an analog sampler, the album features collaborations from vocalists, horn, woodwind, and rhythm section players.

“Music for me is about collaboration with women in music. More women in tech!” says Ta’sia.

Celebrating women across the industry in music and tech, multi-instrumentalist and producer Ta’sia releases her album ESTA and a visual for feature single ‘Krill’ set against the breathtaking landscapes of Polynesia. Creating beats through sampled vintage vinyl sounds and live instruments arranged on an analog sampler, the album features collaborations from vocalists, horn, woodwind, and rhythm section players from around AustraliaTa’sia and her band will celebrate the release with a launch day show on Thursday 20 June in Eora at Pleasure Club (Newtown) with support from Marina Da Silva and Dee.

A South Pacific tale of friendship, dancing, and women, ‘Krill’ features Naarm based vocalist ARAMINTA singing in Spanish, touching on ‘how it takes two to dance together’, amongst a laid-back beat and four-part brass section. The visual, directed by Mikayla Lee, pays homage to the grace and unity of women, and how true friendship should feel, following the story of women of all ages.

Representing women of all ages in this narrative is crucial for our viewers. It underscores the value of inclusivity. It reminds us that every stage of life is beautiful and significant and that our shared connections truly make us authentic and empowered. I hope it resonates with viewers and women as deeply as it did with us during its creation reminding everyone of the beauty and importance of these enduring bonds and love.” Mikayla Lee, Director
