This Week In The Charts – 28th August 2023

This Week in the Charts we have debuts from Genesis Owusu, Angus Gill & Seasons of Change, Dan Sultan, TISM, Tia Gostelow, Parkway Drive, Big Words, Leah Senior, Tash Sultana, The Dead Daisies, Sir Charles Mackerras, The Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Vallis Alps, Jen Lush,  

and The Drones.

Dan Sultan welcomed debuts across all four of the charts following the release of his self-titled album which secured #2 on the Independent Label Albums charts, with singles  ‘Ringing In My Ears’ securing #5 on the 100% Independent Singles chart and #8 on the Independent Label Singles charts – and ‘Fortress feat. Julia Stone’ secured #7 on the 100% Independent Singles charts and #13 on the Independent Label Singles charts. His 2006 album ‘Homemade Biscuits’ also entered the charts for the very first time securing #20 on the 100% Independent Album Charts.

Angus Gill & Seasons of Change welcomed debuts across both the 100% Independent Album charts and the Independent Label Album charts with “Departure & Arrival” taking out #1 on the 100% Independent Album charts and #4 on the Independent Label Album charts. 

T.I.S.M’s ‘Hot Dogma Sing Sing Sessions’ debuted at #2 on the 100% Independent Albums charts, and #7 on the Independent Label Album charts. 

 Genesis Owusu secured #1 on the Independent Label Album charts with ‘Struggler’ and Parkway Drive’s ‘Don’t Close Your Eyes’ took out #4. Leah Senior debuted at #7 with “The Music That I Make’, and Tash Sultana’s ‘Sugar Ep’ secured #8. 

Tia Gostelow secured #4 on the 100% Independent Album charts with ‘Head Noise’. Big Words secured #6 with ‘Nightmares of a Stardom Dream’.  Sir Charles Mackerras, The Sydney Symphony Orchestra debuted at #9 with ‘Live From The Sydney Opera House’. The Dead Daisies took out #11 with ‘Best Of’, Vallis Alps secured #13 with ‘Cleave’. Jen Lush debuted at #17 with ‘Hum of the mettle’ and The Drones took out #18 with ‘I See Seaweed’.
