Feature: Huntly – Sentimental Still

Melbourne/Naarm-based genre-melders Huntly unveil their sophomore album Sentimental Still today via Dot Dash / Remote Control, a deeply introspective omnibus that shines an addictive light on relationships and connection.

Showcasing Huntly’s vulnerability, ‘Shame‘ pairs Elspeth Scrine’s angelic vocals with the duo’s signature jagged, UK D&B production. The track offer’s an insight into Scrine’s open heart as a lyricist, and the way personal experiences can be made so relatable to the outside listener.

Written between 2019 and 2021, Scrine and Andrew Huhtanen McEwan brought together their experiences as songwriters along with Scrine’s experiences as a therapist and academic in music therapy. Sentimental Still – as a result – is an album that for Scrine, a dedication to the nuances of the human condition and a therapeutic process of exploring different forms of connection and separation, with care.

Across its ten tracks, Sentimental Still effortlessly moves into different sonic and emotional territories; dancefloor-primed cuts meet moments of emotional euphoria with natural ease.

Songs such as ‘Undertage’ and ‘It’s You I’m Here For’ are unique insights into moments of pure happiness that come with newfound crushes and friendships.
