Feature: Private Mountain – 22

On an upward trajectory following the success of singles Radar & Can’t Paint In The Rain in 2020, 5-piece band Private Mountain launch their loved-up third release 22 after signing their record deal with youth-led label Push Records.

Written originally as a birthday present for his partner, songwriter Tom Atkinson describes the song as a “pure, unabashed declaration of love”. Channelling the sincerity & wholesome quality of post-Beatles Paul McCartney tracks ‘Junk’ & ‘She’s My Baby’, ’22’ was given life in Melbourne’s Aviary Studios with assistance from producer Robert P. Downie & band (Thomas Atkinson (Vocals, Guitar Piano); Samuel Bianco (Drums); Robert P. Downie (Backing Vocals, Synth, Piano, Additional Percussion); Thomas Pleasance (Guitars, Bass, Backing Vocals).

Formed in 2017 having known one another through high school, Private Mountain is the musical project of Tom Atkinson & Tom Pleasance with bandmates Sam Bianco (Drums) , Ben Blyth (Guitar)  & Will Steel (Bass). With a willingness to explore endless possibilities musically; committed only to encapsulating emotion and experience in their purest forms,  their previous releases have been grounded in a myriad of influences from the immersive quality of Ball Park Music tracks to the dreamlike harmonies & layered ambient guitar of Slowdive.

Thanks to support from Creative Victoria and AIR, Push Records is a youth-led record label that signs and releases new music made by young artists, for young audiences. This six-month learning program provides both industry and artist participants with an opportunity to gain practical experience and establish their networks within the industry; while being mentored by record label professionals and other experienced artists, recording engineers and producers.

Push Records is delivered as a part of Creative Victoria’s Victorian Music Industry Recovery Program – a Victorian Government initiative.
