Feature: Fulton Street – Disappointment

Volcanic soul act, Fulton Street, has released their much anticipated single Disappointment. The latest self-produced track from indie label Stoic Records is a fast-paced and passionate tirade from a woman wronged.

This full-bodied track layers robust vocals with cinematic strings, funky rhythm and energetic organ to create a single reminiscent of an enraged Betty Davis meets Bobby Womack. Disappointment is an energetic tune about being fed up with romantic mediocrity and disrespect.

With all the beats of a 60s soundtrack, the latest single from Fulton Street is an empowered and unforgettable moment to say no more. This explosive single was recorded on tape in Castlemaine with Alex Bennett at Sound Recordings. The horns and strings were tracked remotely in Tasmania during the peak of lockdown. Together these elements converged to create an expressive new sound for Melbourne’s premier soul band, Fulton Street.

Fulton Street is a rare magnetic live act that can simultaneously start the party and make you feel something real. Their highly anticipated album Problems & Pain produced by Ivan Khatchoyan (Cookin’ On 3 Burners) is a prime example of a daily soundtrack, where raw songwriting meets deep-seated soulful grooves.

Fulton Street is confidently led by the deep expressive vocals of iconic soul queen, Shannen Wick. and fully backed by a killer band. Known for their vivacious live shows, Fulton Street has graced festival stages across Australia’s biggest events, as well as continuously selling out feature shows. They have enthralled crowds at Moomba Festival, Tasmanian Wine Festival, Caloundra Music Festival, Boogie Festival, Brunswick Music Festival, St Kilda Festival, Melbourne Music Week, Stonnington Jazz Festival, as well as Bluesfest sideshow support slots.
